The photographer
Photographer first. Dog person always.
I’m JR, a dog photographer based in Leeds. Photography and dogs have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Over the years those two passions naturally became one — photographing dogs in a way that shows not only how they look, but who they are. My background includes working as an official photographer at dog shows and canine events in Poland. That experience taught me something important: no two dogs are the same. Some are confident and expressive, others need time and patience. Good dog photography begins with understanding that difference. Today my work is focused on natural, character-driven photography. I am interested in the small things — an expression, a movement, the way a dog watches their person, and the connection between them. I do not expect dogs to behave like professional models. Sessions are relaxed, flexible and built around the individual dog. My job is to take care of the photography. Your dog’s job is simply to be themselves.
Every dog has its own story — and my goal is to capture it in a timeless portrait. I work with professional lighting, patience and a great deal of empathy, both outdoors and in quieter settings.
